200 Year Old Beacon Hill House Torn Down

The Globe is reporting on a controversy surrounding the razing of a historic house by its owner. The house, built in 1843 and once owned by Abolitionist John P. Coburn, is located at 2 Phillips Street and was believed to be part of the Underground Railroad. Eric Stevens, the real estate agent who bought the house for half a million, has "almost completely knocked [it] down", and the city's various historic societies are livid.
